Unicare provides two complimentary in-home trial services: Showroom at Home™ and 3-Day Trial. These services are specifically designed to support therapists in evaluating assistive technology within a client’s own environment.
How does Showroom at Homeâ„¢ support clinical assessments and product recommendations?
Showroom at Home™ brings over 100 popular, low-cost daily living and mobility aids directly to your client’s home. It enables hands-on demonstrations within the actual care environment, giving therapists the opportunity to assess functionality, fit, and safety before prescribing.
What high-value equipment can be trialled with the 3-Day Trial, and how does it benefit long-term care planning?
Through the 3-Day Trial, therapists can arrange for high-value items, such as electric profiling beds, pressure care mattresses, hoists, lift & recline chairs, to be delivered and used in the client’s home for three days. This immersive experience supports more informed decision-making for long-term care and ensures equipment suitability and ease of use.
Can I coordinate these trials alongside my client’s existing therapy or care plan?
Absolutely. Therapists are encouraged to collaborate during the trial process. You can either co-attend trial appointments or select equipment independently. Unicare’s product specialists will work closely with you to ensure clinical needs and environmental factors are fully addressed.
Are there any limitations or exclusions I should know about?
Yes, certain items are excluded or have special requirements:
- Continence aids and disposables (e.g. pull-up pants) cannot be trialled by Showroom at Homeâ„¢ or the 3-Day Trial, though free advice and samples may be available.
- Bathroom and toileting aids (e.g. shower chairs, bath boards) are restricted to dry trial situations and cannot be returned if used or soiled.
- Mobility scooters and power chairs can be trialled at home, but we cannot leave them unsupervised for three days. These have to be taken back with us after the trial.
